Connecting people to food.
Building opportunity.

Growing Together. Learning Together. Thriving Together.
To build food security, healing, and economic opportunity through land, community, and honest self-reflection, one person, one field, one season at a time.
We see communities where food, land and belonging help people heal, learn, earn and build a future they can pass on.
Sunny Boy Community Development Centre (SBCDC) is a Canadian nonprofit developing hands-on programs around food and growing. We believe food can do more than feed a family: growing it can build skills, restore confidence and bring people together.
SBCDC works across connected efforts that turn food into opportunity: creating access to fresh local produce, teaching growing and food skills, opening pathways into paid work in agriculture, and bringing fresh food directly to families and neighbourhoods.
The impact we work toward is practical: young people with real skills, families with better access to fresh food, seniors and community members connected through growing, and a model other communities can copy.
SBCDC develops programs that connect fresh local produce with learning and work: agriculture-learning programs, school partnerships, and STEM and K-12 initiatives that give young people real skills and pathways into paid work in agriculture.
SBCDC Container Farm Project - our first project. A proposed year-round container farm in active development: a site is proposed and the budget is being finalized. We've identified two pathways for the container farm: purchasing outright or leasing. Purchasing would give us ownership without ongoing lease payments; leasing would spread the equipment cost over time. We're pursuing support for both options, with the final choice guided by the funding available and the long-term cost of each. The faster these funds come together, the faster we launch and duplicate the model with new sites and partner organizations.
Maat Good Food Market - coming up. Our first community produce market with BGC East Scarborough: Thursdays, November 5 and 12, 2026, 10:30am to 5pm, outdoors at the Maat Centre, 62 Orchard Park Drive, Scarborough. Local farmers selling fresh fruit and vegetables.
Feed 365 - in development. A community food partnership that gets fresh, local, Ontario-grown food to families on a steady schedule, supplied by partner farmers.
Community produce markets in future seasons, more school partnerships and youth programs, growing programs that connect seniors and community members, and new container-farm sites with partner organizations.
